Netflix is Coming to E3 2019 To Talk About Video Games

They also teased something new.

This year's E3 is just on the horizon. But more than just the veterans are coming back for a presentation. Movie live streaming service Netflix appears to be attending the event to talk about converting movies to games.

We say "appears" because of the non-traditional way of announcing the idea. NX, the Netflix Twitter account dedicated to sci-fi, had a Twitter thread with the official E3 Twitter, asking if they can host a panel this year called "Bringing Your Favorite Shows to Life: Developing Netflix Originals into Video Games."

The full conversation:

@NXOnNetflix
Getting hype for #E32019. Hey @E3, can we get an invite?

@E3
Sure! Just to hang or....do you guys have something you want to talk about?

@NXOnNetflix
Definitely want to hang but we also have some gaming news in the works we can talk about. How about a panel?

@E3
I think we can squeeze you in. Whats the panel called?

@NXOnNetflix
How does this sound:
"Bringing Your Favorite Shows to Life: Developing Netflix Originals into Video Games"?

@E3
Sounds great! Can we get a hint about the games??

@NXOnNetflix
Of course theres the upcoming @Stranger_Things game but hmmmmm... theres definitely more to come!

@E3
Cool, cant wait! Well keep checking in with you guys at @NXOnNetflix for updates.

Netflix making games isn't a new concept in and of itself. We've seen this with the Black Mirror: Bandersnatch episode. Netflix is on the record as developing a Stranger Things video game as well, which is reportedly coming to PC and consoles this July 4.

This panel appears to be more symbolic than informative, really. Netflix wanting a space at E3 to talk about video game conversions means that they're serious about the idea. In turn, we can expect more of these games to reach development and release. And with Netflix's ever-expanding list of successful Netflix Originals, they have plenty of IP to choose from.

The only question is: What will they game-ify next?
