Neko Atsume Comes to Virtual Reality

It's even more adorable this way.

Neko Atsume, the cute cat-centric mobile game from Japan has been released on the PlayStation VR in glorious virtual reality. If you thought the happy, simple art style was enduring on your phone screen, VR has done is even greater justice.

The mobile game had players decorating their homes, attracting various cats to come and hang out. You could see them play with the miscellaneous items and even snap photos. In Neko Atsume VR, you can take this a step further and interact with these cats. Dangling cat toys and motion tracked controllers allow you to tease the cute kittens with fuzzballs in a 3D world. You can still snap photos, too.

While a fair number of PlayStation owners have gone as far as to purchase a PSVR just for this game, the VR peripheral isn't even required. The game can operate in a non-VR mode as well.

Now the unfortunate news: Neko Atsume VR is currently available only in Japan for 1,944 yen. Non-Japanese PlayStation owners will have to either pray for a localization or settle for this one-hour playthrough. Hopefully, a second-hand experience will be good enough.
