Fans of the series can look forward to the gameplay of Siegecraft Commander--the Commander's core is PvP, which blends fast-paced real-time strategy with action, so guarantee that eyeballs should and would be glued to the screen. Players will also have the option of relying on the turn-based combat system, but this option is actually dependent on the gameplay mode delved into. Single-player mode focuses on turn-based combat, whereas Multiplayer-mode allows the host to pick between the two gameplay options. Even better, Siegecraft Commander will not keep players behind platform bars and instead allow cross-platform support... at least between Windows PC and Xbox One.
But what's the point of these gameplay styles if you've no idea of Siegecraft Commander's purpose?
Simple: The objective is to destroy the opponent's keep. Make sure every brick and tile is obliterated! But in order to succeed, players must launch "seeds" of new structures for a tactical advantage--after all, these structures grow into new buildings, complete with erected walls that connect the old, "parent" buildings that launched the seeds, to the new structures. Sounds a bit odd, but unique at least!
Of course, each building carries its own properties and traits. For instance, one particular construction could create particular buildings or spawn certain units. Players must take note of these properties to determine their stance--whether to rush forward and charge into the opponent's base, or play defense and strengthen the homebase. Then again, players can always adopt the more balanced approach.
Players can count on Siegecraft's familiar factions to be there: the burly knights, who focus on the defensive, or the lizardmen, who are all about being in faces. Both carry their own unique buildings and strategies, which suit the different needs of various participants.
Basically, the point of the game is to raise your own garden capable of demolishing the withering opposition!
Siegecraft Commander will be available to demo at this years Tokyo Game Show, located at Hall 9-A booth 52. It seems that Blowfish Studios are definitely aiming to spin a fresh take on each title, according to CEO Benjamin Lee:
"With every Siegecraft title, we are focused on bringing something distinct to the strategy genre. With Siegecraft Commander we set out to create an action-strategy hybrid with intuitive gameplay, cross-platform support, and above all, competitive multiplayer combat."
