Communication is key in any video game. Whether your character is talking to other characters in the game, or in the case of Moss, if a game character is trying to talk to the player. We need to know what's happening, and Rick Lico has created an amazing way for that to happen in the new virtual reality title.
In Moss, players must help a little mouse named Quill get through obstacles in each level. Quill doesn't speak and can only communicate through hand gestures and tiny squeaks. Rather than Quill acting out every action she wants the player to perform, Lico thought it would be a great idea to incorporate American Sign Language into the game.
He tweeted out his idea on Wednesday, along with an animation for Quill, and people absolutely adored it. His Twitter account climbed from 400 followers to over 2,000 after the response, and the community is extremely pleased with this decision. The deaf gamers are glad that a game is taking advantage of ASL, allowing them to fully understand what is being said without the use of subtitles. This was a fantastic idea for the little mouse and I'm really excited to see Moss in action when it releases for PlayStation VR this winter.
