More characters, less money... seems fair.

Ryu and Roy have just been added to the Super Smash Brother’s roster, and both are playing pretty good… although you’d never know it, considering how much more love Ryu is getting. I mean, the dude plays so much like his Street Fighter version, it’s almost creepy. Plus, having a staple of the fighting game genre showing up in Smash is basically a fanboy’s dream come true, although I know there are some hopeless souls out there wringing their hands in anticipation for the addition of Master Chief or Kratos. I know Kratos, at least, would love the chance to be in a fighting game that doesn’t suck, am I right?

Regardless. We’ve got a healthy stable of DLC characters out for the new Smash game, but, how many more can we expect? After all, there has to reach a point where they have to save SOMEONE for the next game, right?

Well, maybe that game is further off than you think—because in his bi-weekly Famitsu article, creator and Smash savant Masahiro Sakurai assured his readers that this was just the beginning of Smash DLC. In fact, he went to say that the character ballots in April haven’t been revealed yet because Roy and Ryu were already ‘well into development’ by the time they started—we have yet to see who the winners will be!

So when will it stop? Only when he couldn’t keep his team together and they’re drafted into new projects, according to Masahiro. That could be weeks to months away, but we can at least look forward to a few new peeps between now and then. I just hope everyone got the memo and voted for Weegi the way we were supposed to. The only thing we like more than clone characters is outdated memes, after all!
