Badass is an understatement.

Mordhau is an incredibly badass looking multiplayer medieval brawler with large scale team battles, siege warfare, mounted combat and strategic combat mechanics. If you're familiar with Chivalry Medieval Warfare, then you're probably just as excited as I am for Mordhau. While it looks similar to Chivalry at first glance, it sets itself apart by miles with its overall look, speed, scale and pure awe. Mordhau has been in development for around a year and a half, and recently surpassed its $80,000 crowdfunding goal on Kickstarter, receiving over $107,000.

With For Honor and Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord both releasing this year, the age of medieval multiplayer games seems to be at its prime. Not only does Mordhau incorporate up to 64 player sieges, it does it in a horrifyingly beautiful way if that makes any sense. Watch the trailer and you'll know what I mean. While many games of this genre have strange physics with the movement and twisting of the characters bodies, Mordhau has managed to avoid this somewhat immersion breaking mechanic. While its not necessarily as realistic as For Honor, it looks crazy fun, and if its anything like Chivalry, its definitely skill based.

Before the development of Mordhau, the team behind this brutal medieval brawler spent a year prototyping their game in order to work out all of the annoying issues as well as thoroughly work out the game's design. Being able to work on the game in prototype for a year gave them the chance to really define the game's mechanics before showcasing their work-in-progress project. With Mordhau having already received $30,000 more than initially requested, the road ahead looks very promising. No official release date has been announced, but you can keep up with the development of Mordhau here.
