Can Contenders Capsize Capcom's Killer Coop game?

It's been a little over a week since the release of Monster Hunter: World, and people cannot stop talking about it. It was clear that Capcom had put many of their eggs into this basket, and evidence of the game's massive success continues to pile up. This time we see it in the official Xbox listings as more than just the top paid games.

According to the Microsoft page for "Top Paid" games, Monster Hunter: World not only ranks at #1, outranking such titles like Minecraft, Dragonball FighterZ, Call of Duty WWII, and even Playerunknown's Battleground, but the digital deluxe edition of the game also ranks in third place. Seldom does a game make top three, let alone two of those three spots.

This monstrous game hasn't stopped yet. Having been on the market for only ten days, it has already placed itself seventh on Xbox's Most Played list. This beats out games like ARK: Survival Evolved, Overwatch, and Minecraft. Considering it's still a very new game, odds are this placement will still grow considerably.

The most astounding part of this is how Xbox sales are in such a dwarfed contrast to PlayStation. In a Monster Hunter community, there is one Xbox player for every 100 PlayStation users. While I know this is not a fair representation of the player base, it impresses me all the same.

Monster Hunter: World is a fantastic game and one that I can personally attest to the quality of. Seldom do I find a potential GOTY contender so early in the year.
