Monster Hunter has always been a rather obscure series in the West, but now, that seems to have changed. The release of Monster Hunter: World has exploded worldwide, and Capcom has got to be feeling ecstatic over it. Within three days of launch - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (unless we consider Thursday night at 9:00PM at GameStop) - Monster Hunter: World has shipped more than 5 million copies, topping out many charts, according to GamesIndustry.biz.

The title, which released on January 26, 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, is the first title in the series to have the best launch period.

Oh, and if you're curious, lifetime sales of the franchise are sitting at 45 million, which is a pretty good number, especially since the title has mainly found itself on portable devices like the PSP and 3DS.

Keep in mind that a PC version is also headed our way, and there is no doubt that it will be popular among PC gamers.
