Edge of Eternity is the name, and already it has garnered a lot of funding. The upcoming JRPG, developed by the French indie studio Midgar, has reached its $130,000 mark with six days to go, meaning that the developers have succeeded with their dream of collaborating with the legendary composer, Yasunori Mitsuda.
Yes, the man that has composed the wonderful soundtracks of Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Chrono Cross, and Inazuma Eleven.
Mitsuda will compose and record the main tracks of the game: the opening, the main theme, the battle theme, and character themes.
Edge of Eternity's sound designer and current composer Cedric Menedez states in excitement about Mitsuda's arrival:
Mr. Mitsuda will come to France next month, I can't wait to have my first work meeting with him. With such a creator, I'm sure we will give our gamers the music experience they expect in a great JRPG.
Quoting Mitsuda:
In this project "Edge of Eternity" I'll take part as a music composer, looking forward to create music for such an epic perspective, in a world which I really love. I'm sure the game will be a great work with collaboration between French and Japanese creators. I hope everybody also looks forward to the goal of this project, and for its realization we need your cooperation. I'll do my best to contribute to a beautiful music you all will love.
Currently the developers are gathering more resources for additional content for this epic JRPG, but Midgar Studio also has an additional goal: beautiful cinematics.
Edge of Eternity pays homage to classic JRPGs with a universe of science-fiction merged with fantasy, ATB battles, a branching storyline, and open worlds to fully explore.
