The astronomically expensive HoloLens aren't going to reach the general masses for a long time; a lot of us has come to accept that. But it's still cool to know how the wearable AR headset is progressing.
Developers have been able to get their hands on the HoloLens headset in NYC quite recently, allowing them to explore a broad range of tools. What makes it all the more exciting are the details Bruce Harris, Microsoft Technical Evangelist, has shared with The Verge.
So far, from what we gathered, the HoloLens will run for a good 2.5 hours at max usage, but on average, it will be around 5.5 hours. Is this referring to the battery? You betcha. It's going to be wireless.
Meaning that it will support both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
That said, there are some field of view issues that hopefully will be addressed in the future. Apparently usage of the HoloLens will be similar to viewing a "15-inch monitor that's around two feet from your view." So hopefully, this will be changing at some point. Still the $3,000 price point... Le sigh.
