Microsoft's gaming head Phil Spencer gave new insight for the app's future at a Q&A from this year's E3. An audience member had asked Spencer if the company intends to improve on the currently unintuitive roadblocks present in the Windows 10 app.
I'd say our early work in... Xbox Live stuff for Windows was well intentioned, but anybody that's a PC gamer (I play a lot of PC games myself) saw this kind of imposter console work coming over. You've probably seen us slow down on some of the progress we've made on some of our apps, and some other things because we're reworking how we're thinking about the PC audience to try to be more reflective of the PC community that's out there instead of trying to pull people into the things that come from the console space.
It's not clear what kind of changes we can expect, but they can't come soon enough. Having to try and coordinate a friend lobby in Sea of Thieves is a huge hassle on PC right now. Friend lobby invites are notified through the Windows 10 notification system. If you're like me, and you've turned these notifications off because you're tired of hearing about how great Edge is for browsing the web, then you simply don't receive the notifications.
