Its exciting news to hear that Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming to consoles soon. But its even more exciting when we learned that itll be bringing a Top Gun aircraft with it.

Announced during the Xbox / Bethesda E3 showcase, Microsoft Flight Sim had a new trailer to show off an official console release date. And to pump up the hype, they unveiled a new collaborative effort with the upcoming Top Gun film.

This is a cross-over with Top Gun: Maverick, an upcoming film based on the original 1982 film of the same name. As far as we can tell, players will be able to pilot a faithful recreation of the aircraft from the film. We can expect more information about this in November, when the film is expected to release.

But when is the console release coming? Thats what the core of the announcement was about, after all. Microsoft Flight Sim will release on Xbox Series X/S on July 27, 2021. Microsoft claims that it will perform just as well on console as PC, but we assume some reductions will be needed for the Series S.
