We can all admit to missing all the old cartoons and video games of those time periods, right?
Being a '90s kid, I definitely pine for cartoons like Gargoyles, Inspector Gadget, Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, Doug, Rugrats, Darkwing Duck, and so many more. I am not going to go on a wild tangent of "Back in my day, we had good cartoons and video games," but I am going to say that times have definitely changed.
So it is exciting to see nostalgia packed in BeautiFun's vivid game titled Megamagic, inspired by the '80s and '90s action cartoons we know and love. Stuffed with action, robots, magic, zombies, and a bold, '90s aesthetic, Megamagic introduces Phoban and Deimon, two siblings surviving in the neon age, who have inherited magic, a grimoire, and a staff.
Following Phoban is Fum, a smoky creature that looks similar to the slimes from the Dragon Quest series. However, these siblings must protect Fum, because he is the key component for the most powerful currently unknown spell ever. So you can figure that baddies will be after Fum. Along the way, players will be able to learn spells, encounter powerful enemies along the way, and also learn to summon monsters!
Some features to expect:
- Explore a huge world inhabited by a lot of different characters and factions
- Battle against hordes of different monsters and add them to your grimoire
- Solve puzzles and beat monsters in an intense dungeon crawling style with a new combat system based on RTS mechanics
- Learn different spells, each one with unique properties
- Summon any monster you have encountered before, each one with unique skills
- Original soundtrack composed by Mitch Murder
- Choose your own palette of summons and spells depending on each challenge
Now I bet you're all wondering what it looks like? Well, thankfully, there's a trailer for that:
So when is the release date? What platforms will Megamagic be for?
Those answers, my friends, will be available soon. Right now, we are just being teased, but in due time, we will provide you with additional updates of Megamagic.
