Mega Man is finally back with Mega Man 11, coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch sometime late next year.

When I first saw this, I thought it was a joke, as the series was untouched for so long I assumed it to be retired. Capcom came out of left field, however, announcing the continuation of the Blue Bomber and the anticipated release date of late 2018. This lines up excellently with Mega Man's 30th anniversary.

The upcoming title will keep true to the series by being a 2D platformer game, though now it will feature 3D graphics. Producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya and director Koji Oda are part of the project, having experience with Capcom and Mega Man alike.

The last Mega Man came out on March 1, 2010, about seven-and-a-half years ago, for the Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The game replicated the graphical style of the previous games, with 8-bit graphics and retro tunes. The 3D modernized graphics of Mega Man 11 is a huge step forward, visually.

Further details regarding Mega Man 11 are due to come out next summer. For now, you can see what they have to offer with the announcement trailer above.
