That's not him. It's an unrelated picture.

The first Darkest Dungeon DLC is on its way, The Crimson Court, where you must trudge through the aristocratic halls of vampires and other blood-soaked creatures in your quest to reclaim your family’s lost, haunted estate. While this DLC, set to release in two weeks, promised new enemies, items, rewards, traps, and devious ways to die, now we’re also learning that a new hero class will be added as well, a high-DPS fighter with the ability to heal his allies… or hurt them.

Say hello to the Flagellant:

What makes the Flagellant unique is how he uses the stress system that’s become the hallmark of the series. Unlike other heroes, he cannot develop any virtues, which are buffs that can help one endure the trials of the dungeons. However, he’s also unable to get new afflictions (which nerf your abilities and survivability) and is stuck with only one: Rapturous, which will make him enter a berserk rage that will make both friends and enemies suffer.

Developer Red Hook calls them very similar to the Abomination in terms of playstyle: difficult to master and manage, but a powerful ally if used correctly. Plus, his risk-reward mechanic, which makes him more powerful the weaker he gets, culminates in a special ability that will heal allies and devastate foes if he should find himself felled in battle. Making him a useful, if single-use, trump card when things grow too dire.

And he probably won’t mind, either, by the looks of things he sort of revels in the whole self-martyrdom thing.

Darkest Dungeon has been a favorite game of mine for a while now, and while I’m not sure I’ll be first in line to pick up this DLC (there’s just too much to play these days!) I’ll certainly add this DLC to the ol’ Steam Wishlist.
