Quite a bit of polish, in fact. Never missing an opportunity to brag, Andromeda producer Michael Gamble decided to share with PC Gamer just how polished and massive this new game will actually be… particularly for those of you who are a big fan of talkin’.
“The lines of dialogue we have in Andromeda is like Mass Effect 2 and 3 combined. So the number of characters is vaster, but the amount of stuff you and that character can talk about is also larger-especially the squad, we definitely focused in on the squad. We made sure the squad was beefy, and developed, and that you could do different things with them and then that information would basically carry through the conversations. That was a large focus. Yeah, in terms of the amount of writing, that was increased, and the number of characters was also increased."
It would later on be specified that there would be over 1,200 characters that have spoken lines, not including generic NPC’s like shopkeepers.
So good news for fans of in-depth characterization. Bad news for anyone (like myself) who feels compelled to exhaust every dialogue option they come across, because it looks like we’ve got our work cut out for us.
But maybe you’re not a story fan, maybe you’re in it for the action: well, for one, I’m not sure why you’re invested in Bioware, but for two, they got you covered anyway with this spiffy new gameplay trailer for their multiplayer mode.
Like most Bioware games, the multiplayer mode is cooperative, with players trying to complete objectives and survive foes before extracting from the battlefield. It looks fun enough, and as a reminder, you don’t have to participate this time around: while completing matches will net you rewards for both the single and multiplayer modes, they’re nothing that will affect the story in any way.
So yeah, the information keeps flooding in. Here’s hoping it lives up to the hype… and going renegade won’t prove too tempting. Mass Effect will be available for "Early Access" on the 16th, and will be released in full on March 23st.
