Some kinds of officially licensed products are notorious for lacking in quality. This is especially true when it comes to video games based on popular films. There is an unfortunate trend to slap together a piece of pixelated garbage, put a movie poster on the cover, and watch it sell. This started back in the 80's, and there's no evidence that it's dropping anytime soon. It is because of this that it gives me great pleasure to announce the upcoming Marvel video games will have nothing to do with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Maybe not even the shield.
Given, the move seems a bit off. Lately, Marvel has been trying to force every little thing to be related to the MCU. From the films to the cable shows, to the Netflix shows, and probably even branching into uncomfortable fan fiction. Unpredictable move or not, this is definitely good news. Not only does this help break the curse of film based game, but it gives developers more freedom in handling the games coming their way. Without having to conform to the films, Insomniac's new Spider-Man could send Peter Parker to the moon to stop Dracula from bringing eternal night. I mean, it would, if they'd ever call me back about my script.
