Why do you do this to us, Nintendo?

After decades of service, Nintendo announced not long ago that Mario is no longer a plumber. Now that we've had proper time to cope with this revelation, the company has thrown another wrench into our hearts. The Japanese website has recently updated to say that Mario remains a plumber still.

First spotted by Reddit, the Japanese Nintendo page listing various Mario profiles updated this week. The English translation of Jump Man including the phrase occupation is a plumber.

Thanks to his diverse skill set, it can be understood why one might no longer consider Mario as a pipe fixer. Even so, Fans and characters alike remember him fondly for the role. Bowser even refers to him as plumber boy in his most recent title, Super Mario Odyssey. What seemed like a jab at old times may have actually been a modern declaration.

Like with everything they do, Nintendo has managed to surprise and confuse us in a way only they could. Is he a plumber, is he not? Next thing you know, they're going to say that Toad can remove his "cap" after all.

When you tell your friends and loved ones the news, make sure they're sitting down.
