Man Uses Loan to Purchase 7k Worth of In Game Items
Apparently a couple in South Korea is having major issues because of a man's gaming addiction, and now it's not just his time that he's spending on video games. This guy is hardcore, purchasing thousands of dollars worth of in-game items for the game Mue: Blue, which is very popular in South Korea. The couple was recently featured on a show called "Hello Counsellor" where people talk about issues and relationship problems. The show revealed that the man has a serious gaming problem, and took out a loan for 80 million won just to purchase virtual items for a game.
Is that crazy or what? 80 million won is $7300, more than most gamers will ever spend on in-game items. The husband says he can "make money by playing games", as he can sell rare items for profit. That sounds nice, but it appears that he is spending more than he is making, so what's really going on?
The man is 30 years old and lives with his wife's parents, often missing work so he can stay home and play video games. This guy is playing games five hours a day on weekdays and about 20 hours total for the weekend, more than most teenagers with no responsibilies play. The wife was not aware of the man's gaming problem before they got married, so it looks like the guy might have to choose between his marriage and gaming.
