Man Convicted of Drugging Girlfriend with Sleeping Pills So He Could Play Video Games

That is NOT how you deal with your significant other.

Question: How do you stop a "nagging" significant other when you're trying to game?

Answer: Apparently slip sleeping pills in their drinks.

That's the correct answer, according to a German 23-year-old man.

"I only put four or five drops into her tea," the man explained to the court in Castrop-Rauxel, a mining city in Ruhr, Germany.

He was recently fined 500 euros for slipping sleeping medication into his girlfriend's tea, simply to continue his video game session with a friend for as long as he wanted to. Back in August 2014, he and a friend were playing a shooter like any two friends would potentially play, when his girlfriend stepped in around 10 p.m. after a long day at work.

Like with many exhausted employees, she probably didn't want to hear loud gunfire rattling from the TV, but instead rather have some peace and quiet.

However, her idea of peace and quiet was not being drugged to the point of sleeping until noon the following day. The 24-year-old woman told the judge:

"I drove to work although I was nodding off nonstop."

Which is extremely dangerous, by the way -- people say exhaustion has similar effects to inebriation when behind the wheel. Apparently, the boyfriend -- now ex -- was also on drugs, although purposefully. The young woman has only been under the influence of the sleeping pills once, when her ex drugged her.

The judge explained to the man:

"Your girlfriend had indeed slept long and deeply, which didn't harm her, but this is certainly a premeditated assault."

The man's response?

"That was stupid of me, but now I'm on the right path." Since the breakup, he worked to become clean. He noted that he was clean for 10 months and was soon beginning an apprenticeship.

So what's the moral of the story, friends?

No matter how much your significant other pleads for you to turn down the TV, PC, etc., resist the temptation to drug them. The idea may grant you a few extra hours to finish your campaigns, but that will come at a much heavier price tag.
