Colin Kaepernick, quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, recently decided not to stand during the national anthem of a pre-season game. He said that he didn't want to show pride and salute a flag of a country that "oppresses black people and people of color." Now this is an extremely controversial topic. People have even gone to the extreme of burning Kaepernick jerseys because they're so upset with him. Now, much like other people, I definitely know where I stand personally with this issue, but I'm not bringing that into this. Instead, I'm bringing in Madden 17. EA has announced that in order to keep the realism of the game, announcers will talk about the Kaepernick incident.

They haven't gone into detail about what would be said, how much would be talked about, or even how it would come up when playing the game, but it will be in there. Although EA might have it's own stand on the issue, they have to put that aside for the sake of the Madden franchise. They don't want to upset the people that are already extremely mad and they also want to show Kaepernick some respect and decency for his decision. As we've seen in previous Madden titles with the removal of Aaron Hernandez after his murder charge and Ray Rice after his domestic violence charge, EA isn't afraid to step in and address these issues. Politics doesn't really mix well with anything, especially not an American football video game. Hopefully everybody can just express their opinions, accept their differing views, shake hands like human beings, and move on with their lives.

Madden 17 is available to you now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
