Heroes of the Storm, so far, has two heroes from Blizzard’s newest and arguably most successful franchise, Overwatch. But over the weekend, they announced a third Overwatch hero would be joining the ranks of Zyra and Tracer: Lucio, the guy who heals people with phat tracks.
What an era to be alive. We didn’t learn much, but we did get an introduction to his abilities and a seriously underwhelming introduction video.
As for his abilities: his trait means he can pass other units and get a 20% movement buff when he’s moving alongside impassable terrain, a bonus which stacks with other movement buffs. His Q, Soundwave, deals damage to enemies in a cone-shaped area and knocks them back. W, Crossfade, lets you play one of two tracks passively around you: Healing Boost, which slowly restores HP to allies, and Speed Boost, which increase movement speed. Activating W switches tracks. E, Amp It Up, raises the volume of Crossfade for 3 seconds, increasing the size of the area and the buff it provides. As for his Heroic Abilities, he can either create a massive shield for himself and his allies that decays over 6 seconds, or he can change crossfade to either slow or damage enemies. Passively, his heroic abilities increase Amp It Up’s buff to 4 seconds.
So basically he’s Sona, from League of Legends.
Anyway, there’s no news on when he’ll be released, although Blizzard said he’ll be available on the Public Test Ream “Soon”, so I’d put my money on sometime this week. Either way, it’s a new hero, which is new content, which is always good news, so go out there and get “pumped”, I suppose.
Besides, this is the inevitable first step to getting Lucioball in Heroes of the Storm, which is the one thing we absolutely needed.
