Looks like Blizzard "Fixed" Roadhog's Hook

Ummm, kinda.

As far as games go, Overwatch has suffered minor to trivial bugs. Keep in mind, this is a game that includes teleportation and flying. That's a pretty big feat. If you look at the fanbase, however, you would find countless arguments about how much of a broken mess the game is. Also, you'll gain a new disgust for people who use the word "meta" in conversation.

One of the most consistent complaints has to do with Roadhog's hook. What it was meant to do was pull any enemy within range and line of sight to junk-gun range of Roadhog. If done right, the move would pretty much guarantee an instant kill. The problem was that it did its job too well. It would hook people who fell into cover before the hook connected. It would often hook people around corners. Hell, even teleporting away from the thing couldn't help you.

HAX!!

Finally, after months of working on the problem, Blizzard has posted an update to the PTR in attempts to fix it. The good news is that a lot of the issues have been resolved. If a player got behind cover in time, the hook could no longer pull them out and around that corner to face death. Unfortunately, that doesn't cure the whole issue.

Of course, now, the biggest complaint is that they fixed it at all. Plenty of players were happy to pull victims around corners and over ledges. That's not much of a real concern. However, there was another fix that may have gone too far in Roadhog's favor. Before, the hook could pull people in awkward angles. Sometimes the victims would end up beside, above, or even behind Roadhog. Since this wasn't at all what the creators intended, they tweaked it so that the hook target would land to the player's front.

The result is somewhere between "that's not really fair" and "that's cheating!" Players are claiming that Roadhog's new hook can throw people off of ledges with the slightest of ease. He no longer needs to be facing a gap in order to drop you in. He can just turn his camera the moment the hook lands. Then, it's bye-bye.

Okay, maybe it's far north of "That's cheating!"

It's nice that Blizzard is trying to fix the hook, but it doesn't seem their job is done. The good news here is that we at least have a company willing to work on this stuff.
