Now, that’s not a bad thing. Part of the reason Zelda games are so historically good is because Nintendo is willing to put the time and effort into making each entry perfect. But at the same time, it can certainly be frustrating for eager fans.
Well, prepare to be frustrated, because as I alluded too, history repeated itself. In a facebook video, Eigi Aonuma announced that the Zelda team has since “discovered several new possibilities for the game" and will thus need to delay the game beyond 2015 to accommodate all these new ideas.
“As we have worked to turn these possibilities into reality, new ideas have continued to spring forth, and it now feels like we have the potential to create something that exceeds even my own expectations. As I have watched our development progress, I have come to think that rather than work with meeting a specific schedule as our main objective, and releasing a game that reflects only what we can create within that scheduled time, I feel strongly that our focus should be to bring all these ideas to life in a way that will make The Legend of Zelda on Wii U the best game it can possibly be.”
No one can argue having a bigger, better Zelda is always better—no, my fear is that next year is also the year Nintendo plans to reveal it’s brand-spankin’ new console to the world… it doesn’t seem impossible to me that, with enough Delays, Nintendo might get it in their head to release this Zelda title on the new console, the way they did with Twilight Princess.
Still, like Twilight Princess, it seems just as likely they would just make two versions for both consoles, so, we’re still in the clear. Also, am I the only person who hopes one of these new possibilities is the ability to choose Link's gender? Because I still haven't gotten over my hype for that idea.
