You know, I don’t take advantage of my status as a small-time writer on a small-time website nearly enough.

Granted, there are several unprofessional quirks I do indulge in; my starting monologue paragraph is something you wouldn’t see a full-time journalist do, and I never italicize the names of games, which is the proper thing to do. But outside those minor vices, I try my best to be the professional, ethical journalist I’ve always aspired to be. I don’t plagiarize, I follow up, apologize when I make a mistake reporting, and I dig deeper to try to find the history behind events.

But not today. Today, I’m going to dip even further into my bag of vice and report on something I, expressly, want to report on—regardless of its relevance to this website or my previous articles.

And on that note…

...one of the oldest champions in League of Legends history (and the writer’s main, thank you for asking) is finally being given a visual update, as announced by Riot Games today. Riot, the developer of the popular MOBA League of Legends, released this announcement blog showing off Tristana's new visuals, new gameplay, and new everything.

In addition to giving her a place to actually hold and fire her weapon, this new visual update includes a new voiceover, new animations, an entirely new rig, new dances, jokes, taunts, and just about everything you would ever need to finally justify playing Tristana exclusively, which I, the writer, will be doing the moment she’s released at some unspecified date in the future.

Some other things to be excited about include: a face that actually moves, rather than one that’s just painted on, a new E (a delayed time-bomb that can be powered up with auto attacks and detonated with her rocket jump) and a similar update for all of her skins, which this author may or may not own. Still no news on if there’s any way to toggle her goggles like Vi’s Neon Strike skin, but if it does I can confirm it would be the best thing in League of Legends history.

You can check out the blog post for developer insights here. Tristana is not currently live on the public beta of league, so we do not know what her new voiceover sounds like, but I can confirm preemptively it is great. Unless they get Poppy’s voice actor to do it. Then it would be equal parts sad and hilarious.

I’ll follow this story closely as it develops. I probably won’t write about it, however.
