This has been a chaotic year for fans of horror games. We have lived through the hype and following heartbreak of Silent Hills. We cautiously kept up with details of the spiritual successor, Allison Road, and were devastated by its collapse. But even still, the horizon holds many promising opportunities. Resident Evil 7 appears to try and make the franchise relevant again. Games like Outlast 2 and Scorn are looming overhead. And now, the Layers of Fear DLC, Inheritance, is coming. And we're all treated to a chilling trailer.

Are all empty rooms spooky by default?

Layers of Fear: Inheritance is set to launch next month. The new content to Bloober Team's game has the painter's daughter shows up to her childhood home. She's facing the unrelenting horrors and psychological damage to gain some kind of perspective. That, and for our enjoyment, I guess. New details of the tragic story hide in the twisted corridors of the old mansion. If the original game made you shiver or if you're newly intrigued, give Layers of Fear: Inheritance a look.
