What's worse than finals? Nothing save a psycho killer.

Horror games set in high school--we've seen this premise plenty of times. However, to have a horror adventure game set in a school that gives off a Lone Survivor vibe is a bit more unique. Introducing The Coma, a Survival Horror Adventure releasing October 19, 2015. A debut title from Devespresso Games, a Korean indie developer, The Coma is set within a haunted high school on the last day of finals (which, to me, is horrifying enough--seriously, someone should make a game just about the horrors of finals).

The school is filled with traps and murderous spirits that were once classmates and teachers. To add onto the already horrifying experience is a psychotic killer that has been set free to roam inside the school with the intent to hunt you down. How will you escape? Furthermore, how can you survive the hellish landscape?

Here are the features that may tickle your fancy:
  • Run and Hide: Youngho, the protagonist, must roam the halls of his school with nothing but a flashlight in the midst of the night. However, during his exploration, he will encounter some unfriendly and dangerous enemies. To avoid the worst outcome, all you need to do is simply run and hide. Unfortunately, Youngho isn't the greatest athlete in the world, as he wields only so much stamina.
  • Explore: Your high school is but a twisted nightmare filled with harsh realities. The utilization of tools like maps, notes, and tips from other characters will prove valuable as you figure out why you're trapped in the school in the first place.
  • Survive and Escape: Youngho's life sucks during The Coma. Why? Because everything is out to get him. From a serial killer to living vines, everything will try and claim your life. Fortunately, there exists save points.
  • Korean Horror: This game actually takes a peek into the horrific, overworked lives of Korean high school students, so expect a lot of cultural influence to bleed into the title.
  • Content: As Youngho, you must navigate through three connected buildings while using conversations and tips to your advantage. However, paths aren't the only unlockable things in the game--you can also unlock art, notes, and easter eggs that give away more lore about The Coma universe.
Also, expect lots of game overs. Really. Just expect it.

The Coma is set for a Steam release October 19, 2015. Personally, the tie-in with Korean high school culture is what has sold me, so I am certainly looking forward to the title. Well that and the Persona-like music.
