It's been a while since Konami was really in the gaming spotlight. And while they've made a noteworthy announcement, people aren't too happy with it. The once-a-gaming company has unveiled their own line of eSports oriented gaming PCs.

The brand is called Arespear, calling itself the advanced revolution of eSports. Currently, they're offering three prebuilt PCs: the Arespear C300, C700, and C700+ on the Japanese market. So why are people unhappy? Because these PCs, which cost as much as $3,300, while only offering mid-range performance parts.

The three models, their price (converted from Yen to USD), and their specs are listed below:

Arespear C700+
338,800 yen ($3,228)
  • PC case lighting
  • PC case window panel
  • High-quality sound ability
  • Windows 10 Home 64bit OS
  • Water-cooled CPU
  • Intel Core i7 9700 processor
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super graphics card
  • 16GB (8GB × 2) DDR4-2666 memory
  • 512GB (PCIe NVMe /M.2) SSD
  • 1TB (SATA) HDD
Arespear C700
316,800 yen ($3,018)
  • Windows 10 Home 64bit OS
  • Water-cooled CPU
  • High-quality sound ability
  • Intel Core i7 9700 processor
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super graphics card
  • 16GB (8GB × 2) DDR4-2666 memory
  • 512GB (PCIe NVMe /M.2) SSD
  • 1TB (SATA) HDD
Arespear C300
184,800 yen ($1,760.94)
  • Windows 10 Home 64bit OS
  • High-quality sound ability
  • Intel Core i7 9400F processor
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card
  • 8GB (8GB × 1) DDR4 2666 memory
  • 512GB (PCIe NVMe /M.2) SSD
For a better frame of reference, if you were to pick out the listed parts of the Arespear C300 and build it yourself, it would cost about $1,000. Granted, you have to build it yourself. But is the convenience of a premade PC really worth an extra $700? Even if it is, there are other companies that provide prebuilt gaming PCs at a better value than this.

With this perspective, we definitely understand why people would be unsatisfied with these products. This only develops further disdain toward Konami, given their uncooperative history in the game industry, and their eventual transition into producing Pachinko machines.

In the meantime, I'll stick to the PC I have.
