Remember a few days ago, when it was mentioned that PES 2016 might be going free-to-play? Well, today, that has been confirmed by Konami. PES 2016 will be having a free-to-play edition for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on December 8 (no word on Xbox One, PC, and Xbox 360 editions).
To detail the free-to-play part, players who haven't experienced PES 2016 yet (or if they have by playing the demo) are able to download a free, entry-level version of the game that will be featuring an Exhibition Mode. However, you can only play as one of seven teams: Bayern Munich, Juventus, AS Roma, Brazil, France, and a couple others. What will also be fully implemented are the Training and myClub modes. Additionally, players won't be limited to just offline--they can compete online as well and have unlimited access to myClub, which allows players to use either in-game currency or microtransactions to form the best team evar.
Of course myClub would be fully featured.
PES 2016 has scored rather well on Metacritic, being praised for its animations and AI. Additionally, for those who are curious about the free-to-play version, know that it will be compatible with future gameplay and content updates throughout PES 2016's seasons, so it won't be shunned simply because it's free-to-play.
Smart move from Konami or no?
Hrm, maybe free-to-play versions of games are becoming the new demos, now that I think on it...
