Koei Tecmo Finally Responds to DoA Controversy

It's technically a response, at least.

Koei Tecmo recently shook a few cages when one of their employees, over Facebook, seemed to try to intentionally provoke controversy by attributing the recent failure to port the most recent Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 game to the western world to the fact it would rile SJW and feminists. Granted, it was nothing so explicit, but the subtext was clear and it was obviously an attempt to get the wrong kind of attention.

Well, after so much controversy (maybe…?) Koei Tecmo has finally stepped up to address the controversy and clarify its position. Over Twitter. Because press releases are for squares, amirite?

In an image posted on their Twitter Account, Koei Tecmo had this to say:

“The comments recently made by an employee regarding DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme 3 on the official DEAD OR ALIVE Facebook page only reflect that individual's opinion and not the opinion or business strategy of Koei Tecmo Games.

We remain focused on delivering the best in fighting entertainment to our fans around the world, while consciously respecting and strategizing to support the different global audiences the DEAD OR ALIVE franchise lends itself to.

DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme 3 remains in development and is still planned for release in Japan and Asia only.”

So, there you have it--it’s still only going to be released in Japan, and Koei Tecmo may or may not agree with the opinion voiced by its Facebook employee, and… that’s it. That’s as much of a non-response as you can get, really, but at least it’s something resembling acknowledgement.

No word yet if HoniePot will get to publish the game in their stead. Fingers crossed.
