A quick little heads-up for all you Square Enix fans, or more accurately, the people who are fans of the games they produce. I know there’s been a lot of excitement for the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 7 remake, but if you were crossing your pinkies and toes hoping those would be released sometime this year, well, relax those fingers. In a recent Investors document, Square Enix detailed every game that would be coming out this year, and those two weren’t on the list.
At least, not for a release this year.
The investor's document, as dug up and revealed on NeoGAF, shows that the only games planned for this year are Final Fantasy XV, Mankind Divided, Rise of the Tomb Raider, World of Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts 2.8.
For “2018 and beyond”, we have Dragon Quest Xl, Final Fantasy Xll: The Zodiac Age, Marvel’s IP games, the Final Fantasy VII remake, and of course, Kingdom Hearts 3.
So it might not even be next year. It might take even longer!
While Square Enix hasn’t confirmed any of this, it seems… realistic. So while you can take it with a pinch of salt if you’d like, but I wouldn’t raise my hopes too high anyway. Sometimes, pessimism is just better for the soul.
