Everyone knows System Shock. If you haven't played it, then you've heard countless gamers drone on about it. If you didn't like it, you've been berated constantly since 1994. Now, the game no one can shut up about is set for a reboot. The not-so-surprising news is that Nightdive Studio is looking forward to cashing in on crowd-funding to bankroll the project. Why is that not surprising? Because telling gamers you're going to remake System Shock is a guaranteed ticket to free money. As of writing this, they've already raised over $200K with 29 days to go on Kickstarter.

I won't admit it, but I'm actually pretty impressed.

Then again, the trailer is pretty enticing. I was one of the poor saps who missed out on System Shock until it the "it didn't age well" years. I figured there was no way it could live up to the hype, so I ended up just letting myself forget about it (which is hard with how much it's brought up). Luckily, this may be my chance to jump on board the hype train. The only concern now is whether or not this turns into another Mighty Number 9.
