One of the earlier examples of a battle royale game was H1Z1. Released in 2015, it eventually separated into two different games, Just Survive and King of the Hill. The latter game would retain the battle royale concept and would eventually be renamed to simply "H1Z1 Battle Royale." The former game, which would later be shorted simply to "Just Survive," was a survival MMO.
According to an announcement by the developers on the Just Survive news board, They "made the difficult decision to sunset Just Survive on Wednesday, October 24 at 11 a.m. PT." They list the game's current player population as the reason.
"Thank you for taking the time to play the game, to help test it when we opened the Test servers to the public, and for all of the suggestions and feedback throughout Early Access. We truly appreciate everyones commitment and your contributions throughout the development process. Our promise is to do better and learn from every experience along the way."
Any and all Steam purchases and microtransactions have been immediately disabled. Those who already own the game will be able to play until Wednesday, October 24 at 11 AM PT. They also provide a link for those who believe this would make them applicable for a refund.
