Just Dance, the popular dancing music game by Ubisoft, will be shutting down their services for all versions except 2019 for the Wii and Wii U here soon.

According to Ubisoft, will be shutting down online services for Just Dance 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2014 on the Nintendo Wii, as well as Just Dance 2015 and 2014 for the Nintendo Wii U, On November 19. The announcement came with the following remark.

"We are constantly assessing whats needed to deliver the best possible online services for Ubisofts customers. Shutting the services for some older games with smaller online audiences is a necessary part of this process, since it allows our IT and service staff to better focus on delivering great online experiences to the vast majority of customers who are playing newer, more popular titles. Still, we dont take the decision to retire services for older Ubisoft games lightly, and we understand some of you may be disappointed by this news. We are happy to have fans that are as committed as you have been to these brands and titles, and we hope that you'll find more recent or upcoming Ubisoft games which you can be equally as passionate about. Thank you for your understanding and your support."

Here's everything that'll be affected by this.
  • Multiplayer online will no longer function, Solo still will.
  • News and Player Stats will no longer be available. Uplay currency, services, and actions will be disabled.
  • The ULC will be disabled. Any ULC content already redeemed will only be available on the save game file they were redeemed on.
We recommend using what in-game currency you still have left, if any. They will not be refundable. And once they go offline, you can't spend them on anything.

This news is surprising, if only because Ubisoft announced at E3 2018 that Just Dance 2019 would be coming to the Wii and Wii U, which is more support than most developers have done for the consoles. It goes to show that if you make a new game every year, the older games don't live long.
