I have to admit, I'm a little surprised the Switch has been doing as well as it has been. I mean, yeah, it looks good, and some of the games being offered are certainly enticing, but it still strikes me as a little silly to start pre-ordering now: I mean, there's still a lot we don't know about the device.
In fact, I bet this upcoming bit of trivia would have probably made a few pre-orders pause: did you know you have to buy a separate piece of hardware to charge your JoyCon controllers? Yep, according to a report published by Eurogamer, the JoyCon controllers only charge when they're attached to the machine directly in portable mode. When you have them plugged into the pro grip that comes bundled with the system, they're running on battery power. Those batteries, according to Nintendo, last about 20 hours, although the more they're used the less charge they'll hold (as batteries are want to do), and take about 3.5 hours to charge back to full.
If you want to charge your JoyCon, you'll need to shell out an extra 30 bucks for the official charging grip. Yeesh.
It seems as time passes we have fewer and fewer reasons to be excited about this console...
