Video games can be a thing of absolute beauty, one of a greater degree than possible by other artistic mediums. A perfect example of this is the 2012 game Journey. And soon, more people than ever will get to experience it themselves. The previously-PlayStation exclusive will be coming to Steam PC on June 11.
Journey is a game that says very little only because it doesn't need to. The player controls a robe-covered individual with a magical scarf. They must traverse through sandy dunes, stone ruins, caves, and mountains, in order to reach their final destination. But they are not alone. Someone else is there to help them along, someone mute. You and your equally silent friend can work together to achieve their goals and form an unspoken bond.
Journey would go on to win countless awards, praising everything from the soundtrack to the game design. It saw all 9+ scores from critics, who were amazed at the emotional experience it was able to establish through cooperation with a stranger.
To be fair, the game has been on PC for almost a year now. It had released as an Epic Games Store exclusive title last year. It was said to be a 1-year contract. Now that year is ending and the game is releasing on alternative (more popular) platforms.
While an official price tag hasn't been established, it will most likely cost $14.99, the same price listed on the Epic Games Store.
