A job listing appeared on a Japanese career opportunity site, e-Career FA, was looking to add programmers to a 120 person team that's working on Super Smash Bros 6, with a 2015 release date. The job listing was then taken down, but not before Game Jouhou managed to get a screenshot of it. This was a listing on a reputable site, posted by a reputable recruiter and stated-
Social games are currently a big hit, but the current state of job opportunities for making retail games is critically low. In the midst of this, this will likely be your only chance to be part of a development project for the Smash Bros. [series], which has surpassed a total of 10 million in worldwide sales. And Bandai Namco believes that now is the best time to recruit programmers for retail games.
Now we're left with nothing but speculation as to what the listing meant. Obviously the next Smash Bros title would be 5, not 6. The 6 of course could have been a typo, another possibility could be that Smash Bros was a typo, and could refer to maybe Soul Calibur 6. It's hard to believe there would be a second 120 person team working on another Smash Bros sequel while 4 isn't even finished yet.
Sakurai did confirm in yesterday's Nintendo Direct that Smash 4 has a solid 2014 release date... with the 3DS version coming first this summer, followed by a holiday release for the WiiU version. It isn't that uncommon for a fighting game to have multiple iterations released with tweaks and added characters like the recent Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, or Ultra Street Fighter 4. We know that not every character will return for Smash 4, and series regulars like Captain Falcon and Ness haven't been shown in any previews.
A 2015 Ultra Smash Bros 4 with an expanded roster would surely be a welcome addition. Here is yesterday's much hyped Smash Bros Nintendo Direct-
