The world is experiencing a pandemic. People are falling ill, businesses are closing, and schools are shutting down. Many folks are staying home, working remotely (or without work at all). Despite all this, one group of Japanese students are making the most of it by hosting their own school graduation ceremonies in Minecraft!
Discovered by Japanese Twitter user @backyennew, a group of elementary students, stuck home after school closing, decided to gather together in a game of Minecraft and hold their own ceremony. This is because, in Japan, school ends in March. The recent closures meant that they would miss their official graduation ceremonies.
This wasn't organized by teachers or school faculty. No adults were involved in the process at all, actually. This was just something that the students decided to put together on their own.
This is a lovely bit of sunshine in a rather dreary series of events. These kids are making the most of their situation. It makes sense, in a way. We've been seeing a spike in video game usage recently, most likely due to more folks staying home with nothing to do.
It reminds me of my own Minecraft days, playing on a server with a bunch of friends. Good times. Less illness-ridden, too.
