What happens as a result of combining 8-bit music with twitch-style gameplay? Why, you get a ship speeding down ribbons of light in the game known as Spectra. Though already announced for Steam, studio Gateway Interactive and publisher Mastertronic have proudly revealed, during E3, that the 8-bit music racing game will be coming to Xbox One via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program this summer.
Clench adrenaline tightly as your ship blazes through intricate ribbons of light in time to the "dynamic beats and original soundtrack by chiptune artist legend Chipzel," known for Super Hexagon and Size Does Matter.
Here's the goal, and it is a simple one: stay on the road until the music stops. Sounds easy, doesn't it? You know very well it's not simple, and it won't be, because as you progress through each level, the speed increases, so your eyes and fingers need to be working 100% in tandem.
There are two gameplay modes: Normal and Hardcore, with 10 music tracks that are used to generate procedural levels. Retro-style and stuffed with 8-bit music, fans, young and old, will enjoy the thrill of Spectra!
Spectra will release on Xbox One as well as on Steam for PC, Mac & Linux July 10.
