Is Osiris: New Dawn What No Man's Sky Was Supposed to be?

Eh, kinda. They both need more, though.

Steam's Fall Sale started a few days ago and a lot of amazing games can be picked up with a serious price cut. Of these games, Osiris: New Dawn is one that caught my eye. I decided not to buy it, but after looking into the game quite a bit, I started asking myself some questions. The biggest one I could come up with was, "Is this what No Man's Sky wanted to be?" The first, and probably largest difference, is that Osiris actually has multiplayer. It's a key part of the game and having a group of friends will help you survive against alien attack.

Even though the game does offer multiplayer, it's still not a fantastic title. I've been trying really hard to find something to tie me over until Star Citizen, but it looks like it's not going to happen. Even Osiris: New Dawn, while good, doesn't have the feedback I'm looking for. Whether it's the lack of enemies, the predictability of the game, or the fact that you need friends to play with in order to have fun, this game just doesn't really appeal to me.

While I still think this is much better than No Man's Sky, I still just can't seem to find that space title that takes me away for a few hours at a time. If No Man's Sky and Osiris had a child, I think the game would be pretty great, but No Man's Sky just couldn't keep it's promises and fell extremely hard. Maybe if they had spent more time trying to tie together multiplayer, a storyline, raids, rare drops, and a global trading market, No Man's Sky could have been one of the best space games ever created.

Like, Destiny, No Man's Sky, and Osiris three-way child. That's what I'm looking for.
