With the release of Moria not so long ago, Blizzard Entertainment caught us by surprise with the announcement of Brigitte Lindholm, Overwatchs next playable hero.

Brigitte is the daughter of Torbjörn Lindholm, The mechanic builder of below average stature. Her origin video (seen above) reveals that she worked alongside Torb, showing promise with her mechanical abilities. To Brigitte, just having armor isn't enough, you need to be at your allies' side to protect them. So she took up arms and joined the fight.

She's classified as a support hero. While this is fitting, she is a potent force all her own. When she isn't providing health, armor, and protection to her team, her regenerative health and lengthy flail are crushing those who oppose her.

Here's her official list of abilities:
  • Rocket Flail Her main weapon, the flail has an extended range, allowing her to strike multiple enemies in one swing.
  • Repair Pack She throws a repair pack down. This heals lost health an applies armor if already healthy.
  • Whip Shot She throws her flail, dealing damage while also knocking them away from her.
  • Barrier Shield She deploys the shield that absorbs a set amount of damage.
  • Shield Bash When shielding, she can dash forward to stun enemies.
  • Inspire Striking an enemy with her flail inspires nearby allies, healing them.
  • Rally Her ult, Rally increases her attack speed and applies armor to all nearby allies.
We've seen Brigitte before, in both the comic series and in Reinhardt's animated short Honor and Glory from last November. She now marks the 27th hero playable hero to the game.

More details can be seen about Brigitte Lindholm in the Developer update video seen below.
