With overrated franchises comes overrated responsibilities.

Everyone's friendly neighborhood game developer, Insomniac, is poised to bring us the next Spider-Man game. The news came with a helping of brand new trailer. Gamers were shown a series of action scenes from iconic web-slinging to Marvel acrobatics. And yes, we were given a taste of combat.

This is around the time you know for sure you messed up.

The trailer includes hectic scenes of violence and chaos. However, we only see Spider-Man fighting the typical street thug. As of yet, no franchise villain has made an appearance. Until I see some direct proof otherwise, I am thoroughly convinced that superhero media needs a fix of supervillains like they're made of black tar heroine. Regardless, we are still a way off from seeing how the gameplay itself will be. Spider-Man games have had more than their fair share of bland variations, but game companies have done well in the past. I dunno, Spider-Man 2 on GameCube was pretty good. If anyone can do the franchise justice, it's Insomniac.

Yes, swing you magnificent bastard
