Today, NetherRealm showed off the first gameplay trailer for the upcoming Injustice 2. The video is filled to the brim with cinematic and visually dazzling violence. And, of course, it features many different characters. In fact, it fits in as many characters that can possibly fit into a minute long trailer. Just as the first game, the characters run the gamut from Super Girl to Black Manta. That way, players can get some variety when they're tired of playing as Batman.

Why does it feel like my brain just went through a blender?

The trailer does much more than show off some new characters. One of the most thrilling parts of the video comes in the form of spectacular special moves that seem to work as miniature feature films on punishment. Whether these will be used as environment, character, or finisher specific moves is yet to be seen. However, the scenes range from Super Girl being launched several city blocks into a moving train to Grodd eating a heaping helping of trident before becoming lunch to a full-fledged sea monster. The updated visuals and fighting style appears to be a refreshing progression from the first game. And seeing as how the first game had a decent reception, this is probably good news. Of course, the fighting still takes after the Mortal Kombat style that NetherRealm has worked so hard to revive from the dead.

In the end, the trailer is an impressive sign of things to come. Injustice 2 is shaping up to be a fine successor to the previous title. If you plan on keeping up to date with the upcoming title, consider following NetherRealm on Twitch or at least see what they have to offer for E3.
