Inferno Climber by Arc System Works has fully launched on Steam. The game is advertised as a survival action RPG. So, of course, my first thought was to roll my eyes. Hard. If there's one thing gaming has done to death, it's action/survival/open world/RPG games (usually with zombies). Oh yeah, and crafting. But then I caught myself. It doesn't say open world. It doesn't say crafting. And it actually doesn't even say zombies. I figured I should at least check it out.

Definitely not what I was picturing.

Did you see that? This game is like Zelda had a baby with Brave Fencer Musashi! And yes, that's absolutely a good thing. The game appears to actually focus a lot on RPG elements, a cohesive, story, and intriguing gameplay. Inferno Climber features 8 playable characters on their journey to find the 5 Purgatory Stones. Another neat aspect is that the game provides over 400 unique items in the game world. On top of that, finding a repeat of the same could yield different bonuses.

Originally, I didn't think much about Inferno Climber, but I'm glad I decided to actually find out more about it. It's retailing for $29.99 on Steam if you're interested. I know I am.
