"While we did everything we could to prevent this from happening, the simple reality is that Indivisible ended up being a much larger project than we could have anticipated. This was not a decision we made lightly, nor did we make it alone. Needing more time to finish the game meant that we also needed more money. Fortunately, 505 Games has graciously funded the majority of the extension, and Lab Zero will be kicking in our Skullgirls royalties to cover the rest."
They continue to explain that no content will be cut to help resolve this issue. They want to deliver a fully realized experience, and they believe pushing the date back will be the best choice for meeting this goal.
Though this is unfortunate, I have to commend Lab Zero for their decision. This opportunity could have been monetized as a "help save our game" crowdfund, but instead, they're dipping into their Skullgirls money to make it happen. They're also taking Shigeru Miyamoto's approach to game development. "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad."
Indivisible is scheduled for release on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC in the first half of 2019.
