Seems like Koji Igarashi, producer of several Castlevania titles, has moved on to a different - albeit similar - project. Today, Igarashi has raised the curtain on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, an "Igavania"-style game, and he seeks your funding abilities on Kickstarter.
Basically, Bloodstained is a side-scrolling platformer that throws in RPG elements and crafting mechanics. The plot?
You are an orphan named Miriam, who wields a curse that crystallizes her skin. During a lengthy time period of her rest (when the curse matured), demons have appeared. When she finally awakens, she suffers from a mild case of amnesia, but realizing what has terrorized her surroundings, she confronts a demon castled summoned by Gebel. Despite her obstacles, Miriam strives forward with precision, compassion, and foresight in order to protect her loved ones and prevent the downfall of humanity.
The artwork is absolutely vivid and gorgeous and the plot hints at a story with a satisfying amount of depth. Already the funding is climbing; at the time of this writing, there is $141,867 in pledges of the $500,000 goal by 1,864 backers.
If you'd like to support IGA make his vision a reality, which includes hiring David Hayter to voice Gebel, you can head over to the Kickstarter Campaign and throw money at IGA.
