Another day, another video game museum opening. The National Videogame Museum will be opening its new home inside the Frisco Discovery Center, located in Frisco, TX, sometime this winter. Being the only museum in America that's dedicated to the history of the video game industry, the NVM will be featuring over 100,000 consoles, games, and artifacts from all over the timeline in an effort to push forward the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) values.

There will be more than 20 installations, such as:
  • Pixel Dreams--a 1980s arcade that's stuffed to the brim with classics like Asteroids, Centipede, Donkey Kong, and Space Invaders.
  • Giant Pong--It's exactly what it sounds like. You get to play Pong on the world's largest home Pong console on a gigantic 15-foot TV replica that hailed from the 1970s.
  • Head-to-Head Hall--This would be your competitive station, where you can play more than 12,000 of NVM's games against family, friends, and other competitors in a vicious tournament to victory.
  • Gearbox Behind the Scenes--That's right, Gearbox has its own place in this museum. You'll be able to check out the office of Randy Pitchford, who is the founder of Gearbox Software and the creator of Borderlands, Brothers in Arms, and Duke Nukem Forever.
  • The Timeline of Consoles--If you're not wanting to interact with games (unlikely), you may instead want to partake in the learning of some history lessons. You can check out the stories and artifacts of more than 50 past and present video game consoles via a physical timeline.
  • Rarest Artifacts--If you're a fan of checking out never before seen tech, then you're in the right place. You will be able to find the Sega Neptune prototype here, alongside the unreleased Barbie edition of the Nintendo Game Boy Pocket system, the Atari Mindlink controller (there is only two in the world, by the by), the RDI Halcyon laserdisc-based console, and the Nintendo World Championships cartridge from 1990.
All sound like a blast to check out, eh? You can check out this museum, which will be opening inside the Frisco Discovery Center (8004 N. Dallas Pkwy, Frisco, Texas 75034) winter 2015.

Admission will be $12 per adult (13 - 65) and $10 for children 12 and under, military personnel, educators, and seniors. Additionally, it will be open to the public six days a week, though it will also be available for corporate events, birthday parties, field trips, and research studies.
