Mario Kart Tour, the upcoming Nintendo racing game for mobile devices, is making great progress. And now that we're nearing its official launch of "Summer 2019," Nintendo is launching a closed beta for the game.
According to a report by Matthew Handrahan, Nintendo is now accepting applications from Japanese and North American Android users for the closed beta test. If accepted, they will be able to participate in the beta held from May 22 to June 4. Nintendo will keep a close eye on the game, its performance, and any feedback "to improve the quality of the game" before its final release.
Virtually nothing is known about the game at this time. Originally set to release in March, it was delayed until summer last February. No in-game footage has been released, nor a descriptor of what types of game modes or how the game will operate.
While some have performed better than others, Nintendo has still produced a high-quality mobile game every time. We even think that Fire Emblem: Heroes might be the best Fire Emblem game there is, despite its phone-based platform.
You can apply for the beta by scanning the QR code on the official Mario Kart website using your phone, or just visit the page with your phone's web browser. You WILL need a Nintendo account. In the meantime, we'll continue to fantasize about the Dr. Mario mobile game Nintendo also announced.
