This is what you face in THE BROTHERHOOD's STASIS, the upcoming point-and-click, sci-fi, and horror-adventure game. Played from an isometric perspective, STASIS infuses a deep, macabre narrative with retro adventure gameplay based on point-and-click adventures--combine items, solve puzzles, and delve into computer terminals in order to progress farther.
You're John Maracheck, a man who has awoken from stasis in an abandoned spacecraft. Your first thought, as you wobble to your feet, is "Where the hell am I?" However, your thoughts soon crumble under a mountain of intense pain. Bearing this surprising and undesirable partner, you must fight challenge your mind and body to surpass its limits in order to survive and solve the mysteries lying deep in the Groomlake, including the whereabouts of your daughter and wife.
Unfortunately, time bears its cruel fangs, slowing plunging the Groomlake into Neptune's methane clouds.
Oozing with character backstory deep in the memory of PDAs strewn on corpses, professional voice acting, and a score by legendary Mark Morgon, this narrative aims to have the player clamoring for more.
Below are the tantalizing key features:
- Challenging and realistic puzzles
- Cinematic AAA music
- Highly detailed 2D isometric graphics
- Classic point-and-click interaction
- Multiple characters to engage and work with
- Death - John can (and will) die in the most horrific ways imaginable (Editor's Note: Corpse Party horrific? My interest is so piqued)
- Suicides - Special objects can be self-inflicted on John himself to end it all
- A holographic stripper
Rated M, STASIS will be available in a myriad of languages--English, French, German, Spanish, Polish, and Russian--on Steam and GoG August 31, 2015. You can preorder the digital edition for $19.99, the developer's edition for $39.99, or receive beta access for $99.00 on the official site.
So far, the beta has been going exceedingly well. Quoting developer Christopher Bischoff:
"The feedback we've had has been positive and players have responded well to the puzzle design especially. The Beta has given us a wealth of gamer input that we're implementing into the final release. I think that I'm watching the countdown more anxiously than anyone else!"
Here's the launch trailer and a few screens to tease you along the way:
