Here’s a trailer for you:
Step off the train into the town of Hokko and get settled into your new home!
This quiet village needs your help to turn it into the charming rural town everyone loves. With hammer and paints in hand it's up to you to design, build and decorate homes for all of your new friends!
You’ll notice that reaction to this new game, called Hokko Life, isn’t quite as overwhelmingly positive as it was for Temtem just a few weeks earlier. This is probably because while Temtem is obviously inspired by Pokemon, it still adds some novel twists to the formula – such as making it an MMO, focusing on two-on-two battles, and of course replacing the PP system with the stamina system. Hokko Life, on the other hand, while polished enough to be considered a full game, really just looks like a straight-up rip-off of Animal Crossing, albeit one with the added benefit of being on PC and giving you more creative license with your house, furniture, and clothing.
Also, the characters kind of look like cheap plastic toys. So the aesthetic is kind of different too, I guess.
In any case, you can check out the game if you want, as it’s poised for a full release sometime later this year, assuming Nintendo’s lawyers don’t nuke it into oblivion.
